Overview
Pramata's E-signature integration for Contract Requests eliminates the need to switch between platforms during the signature process. This unified workflow accelerates deal closure by allowing you to initiate, manage, and track eSignatures directly within your Contract Request interface, keeping your entire contract workflow centralized within Pramata.
This documentation covers the prerequisites for using the feature, step-by-step instructions for initiating eSignatures with both Docusign and Adobe Acrobat Sign, managing request status updates, and monitoring signature progress through completion.
Prerequisites
Before initiating an eSignature, ensure that eSignature Connector is enabled for your preferred e-signature provider(s):
- Navigate to Admin Console > Integrations Hub: eSignature - Embedded eSignature in CLM
- Configure your e-signature provider based on your organization's needs:

Single Provider: Connect either Docusign (CLM) OR Adobe Acrobat Sign (CLM) and ensure it displays Connected.
- Multiple Providers: Connect both Docusign (CLM) AND Adobe Acrobat Sign (CLM) if you want the flexibility to choose between providers for different Contract Requests.

Important Configurations and Requirements

Contract Request Assignment: The Initiate E-Signature appears only for contract requests assigned to you.

Doc Versions and Attachments:
- Ensure all documents requiring signatures are uploaded under Doc Versions and Attachments.

File size limit: Each uploaded document must not exceed 10MB (Adobe Acrobat Sign limitation)

eSignature Usage Indicator: If a contract has already been used for eSignature, an indicator appears next to the contract name. Hover over the icon to see Used in E-Sign tooltip, helping you identify which documents have been previously processed through the e-signature workflow.

Auto-Close Setting (Optional)
- By default, Pramata auto-closes contract requests after successful eSignature.
- You can modify this in Contract Request > Settings > General tab.
Note: If your Admin has previously added an E-Signature Platform URL as part of the contract workflow, this URL will be overridden once Adobe Acrobat Sign is integrated.
eSignature Provider Selection
When both Docusign and Adobe Acrobat Sign are enabled, clicking the Initiate E-Signature hyperlink will present an eSignature provider selection dialog, allowing you to choose your preferred platform for the current request.
Adobe Acrobat Sign - Steps to Initiate eSignature
When a Contract Request is assigned to you, follow these steps:
- Click the Initiate E-Signature hyperlink under Request Actions.
- If both providers are enabled, select Adobe Acrobat Sign from the provider selection dialog.
- You'll be redirected to the Adobe Sign E-Signature Request page. First time users will need to enter your Adobe Acrobat Sign credentials first, this is a one time task. After this initial setup, Pramata will automatically log you into the Adobe Acrobat Sign E-Signature Request page for future sessions.
- Complete the following details on the request page:
- Select Document to be Signed: Choose one document from the available options. Only the latest versions of documents from the Doc Versions & Attachments section are displayed for selection.
- Send From: Select From Group or Account (options are populated based on your Adobe Acrobat Sign configuration).

Add Recipients
- The Recipients must sign in order checkbox is selected by default. Uncheck if you want all recipients to sign simultaneously.
- Enter Recipient email address(es). You can add your own email by selecting the Add me link.
- Click +Add another recipient to include additional signers.
- Optional: Select the Add CC recipients to receive a copy of the completed agreement check box and enter the CC recipient email addresses.

Agreement Details
- Agreement Name: The document name is displayed by default but can be updated if needed.
- Message: A default message "Please review and complete this document" is provided, which you can customize if desired.
- Click the Preview & Add Signature Fields button.
- Navigates users to Adobe E-Signature Authoring page, you can do the following steps:
- Drag and drop signature fields, initials, and other elements where you want recipients to take action.
- Click Send when finished. Adobe Acrobat Sign will process and send the agreement for e-signature.
- Alternatively, click Send without adding fields, and Adobe Acrobat Sign will automatically assign signature placement at the end of the document and send the agreement for e-signature.
- Alternatively, if you click Close without sending, the system returns to the Request Details page, showing the agreement in "Draft" status, and displays the Status Update Dialog.
Docusign - Steps to Initiate eSignature
When a Contract Request is assigned to you, follow these steps:
- Click the Initiate E-Signature hyperlink under Request Actions on your Contract Request page.
- Provider Selection (if applicable) If your organization has both Docusign and Adobe Acrobat Sign configured, you'll see a provider selection dialog. Choose Docusign to proceed with the Docusign workflow.
- For first-time Docusign users, you'll be prompted to enter your Docusign credentials. This is a one-time authentication process. Once completed, Pramata will automatically authenticate future Docusign sessions, streamlining your workflow.
In the Docusign E-Signature pop-up, select the document to be signed. from the list of uploaded doc versions. and click Continue.

You'll be redirected to the Docusign E-Signature Request page where you can configure the following:
The Add documents section displays a preview of your selected document for verification.
In the Add recipients section, enter the email addresses of all required signers. Add yourself as a recipient if needed. Use Add Recipient to include additional signers as required.
The Add message section automatically populates the subject line with "Please sign this document. Customize the message content as needed to provide context or specific instructions to recipients.
Click the Next button.
On the Docusign E-Signature page, drag and drop signature fields, initials, and other elements where you want recipients to take action.

Send Options
- Send with Custom Fields: After placing your signature fields, click Send to process and distribute the agreement with your specified field locations.
- Send with Auto-Placement: Click Send without adding custom fields, and DocuSign will automatically place signature fields at the document's conclusion.
- Save as Draft: Click Close without sending to return to the Request Details page. The agreement will display "Draft" status, and the Status Update Dialog will appear for workflow tracking.
Managing Contract Request Status
After completing actions in Adobe Acrobat Sign (whether sending the document for signature or closing without sending), the Update Request Status dialog automatically appears to help you maintain accurate workflow tracking.
When the Dialog Appears:
- Automatically triggered after sending a document for eSignature.
- Also appears when exiting Adobe Acrobat Sign without completing the send process.
- Ensures no signature action goes untracked in your workflow.
Functionality and Available Actions: The Update Request Status dialog box presents a dropdown menu containing workflow-appropriate status options. Select the status that best reflects the current state of your Contract Request based on your organization's workflow requirements.
- Update: Confirms your status selection and records the change in the contract request.
- Skip: Maintains the current Contract Request status without changes.
Once you complete your selection, the system updates the Contract Request status, refreshes the document list view with the new status, and continues the workflow based on your selection.
Monitoring eSignature Progress
On the Request Details page, the E-Signature Status section appears below the Request Actions area, allowing you to track document progress through the signature process.

Signed Contracts Section
When the Adobe Acrobat Sign eSignature status reaches "Completed," a new Signed Contracts section appears on the Request Details page. This section displays key contract information extracted from the fully executed document:
- Title: Extracted from the signed document (may initially show as pending during AI processing)
- Effective Date: Extracted from the signed document (may initially show as pending during AI processing)
- Pramata Number: Links directly to the final signed document for easy access
